For those of you who don't know, and just to put the record straight,
and Watkins are one and the same company.
"
"
is the registered trademark of Watkins Electric Music Limited.
On behalf of Watkins Electric Music Limited, I wish to point out the information below.
A British icon of days gone by.
An illusive, legendry and highly sought after piece of equipment used by David
Gilmour of Pink Floyd, produced by Watkins /
in the heydays of Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, The Who, T Rex and many others.
Copies of, or should I say "imitations" of these cabinets for some while have been, and
still are, marketed by Hiwatt and possibly others in the United States under various guises,
From "The
/ Hiwatt Little D" 1 X 12
To "The
/ Hiwatt Starfinder" 4 X 12
Often promoted together with Hiwatt amplification.
Demonstrated on the Hiwatt stand at the NAM
show 20014, blatantly bearing the UK registered
trademark
USA imitations bearing the British
trademark logo,
and a cheap printed grill cloth of a similar style to that used by
during
the late 1960's and 70's .
Claimed to be officially licensed and made in
England, when this was questioned we were told the cabinets are licensed by an
"American" company also called wem who deal in musical sound
equipment. This is no coincidence and it does not give them the right to the British trademark
logo in order to con you (why else would they do it?) into believing you are buying or looking at a genuine
British made
product.
UK listings tend not to have a
logo attached
because of the UK trademark laws.
On behalf of Watkins
Electric Music Ltd () of London, I wish to
point out to those of you who may not already know, that these currently
available imitation cabinets are not in any way licensed or authorised by Watkins Electric Music
Limited /
of London.
BUYER BEWARE,
these FAKE imitation cabinets are not what they might appear to be. They are a deliberate
attempt to extract your money on the pretence that they are an official
product, when they categorically are not.
We are also aware of eBay listed FAKE
cabinet and amplifier logos, and Tee shirts, bearing the
trademark logo.
Again neither of these items have been authorised by
yet eBay allow it to happen!
Imitation
equipment in the long term will only raise the profile of the
company who own the original designs.
Nobody can ever take that away from them!
The Reissue Watkins Dominator, Westminster & Clubman amplifiers built by John Beer of
Amp-Fix are the only products to have been licensed and approved by
Watkins Electric Music Limited. This can be verified by ringing
Watkins on +44 (0) 208 6795575
